For over 35 years VIDEA has worked with students and teachers helping to develop a better understanding of global issues and create opportunities for young people to become active global citizens. VIDEA’s Schools Programme includes the following:
Learning resources – VIDEA has produced a range of globally-focused learning resources for over 35 years covering topics from global warming, to access to education, to the future of our forests to gender equality. In school workshops – VIDEA works closely with schools on Vancouver island, the Kootenay and Okanagan Districts of BC to deliver a range of workshops in classrooms each year. Current workshop topics include: Gender Equality, Fair Trade, and Access to Education.
Professional development – the VIDEA team take part annually in a number of teachers training activities at professional development days. These workshops for teachers are aimed to help middle and high school teachers to develop strategies to integrate global issues into their classroom curriculum.

Curriculum development
VIDEA has pulled on our diverse staff, experience and expertise to develop curriculum for Oak & Orca Bioregional School. Courses created include Social Justice 12, Contemporary Indigenous Studies 12, Comparative World Religions 12, and more!
