Community Wisdom, Systemic Change

Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQ+ people experience violence at an alarming rate, much higher than that of non-Indigenous people. The government has failed to address this crisis with the urgency needed – 5 years after their release, the Calls for Justice  remain largely unimplemented – leaving communities to fight for justice while grieving.

The Community Wisdom team are working with their communities to heal from, address the root causes and prevent violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQ+ people. They are creating safe, inclusive, intergenerational and decolonial spaces for community members to connect, share and identify solutions to this crisis. Coordinators deliver activities that support community members learning and wellness – cultural crafts, Elder storytelling, Land-based activities, and more.
