Reconciliation: Journey from the Heart is a youth-led program that stimulates community exploration of reconciliation by engaging youth, schools, and organizations through workshops, sharing of best practices, and the arts.
The program presents critical breakthrough moments of learning that participants have experienced through the use of art as a vehicle to unsettle and stimulate thought and action on the part of the audience.
In 2019, Journey from the Heart took place in Victoria, Nelson area, and Simpcw First Nation.
Communities participate in their own learning through a range of performance-based art and related activities such as drum making workshops, residential school tours, and a wellness retreat.
Through these experiences, participating youth crafted unique, creative, and thought-provoking performance-based art representing the uniqueness of their own lives and their embodied experience of learning.
